Our beloved friend Niko, a well-known visual artist in Vancouver is recovering from a tibial plateau fracture type 6 (this type of fracture typically results from high-energy trauma and involves a complex combination of forces, leading to significant displacement and comminution fragmentation). A result from being tackled with excessive force by members of the VPD (Vancouver Police Department).

This disturbing and unnecessary use of physical violence has left Niko unable to work and facing a long road to recovery. This includes surgery, mobility challenges, and extensive physiotherapy. To make matters worse, Niko doesn’t qualify for EI or Medical EI. That means since this incident in April, Niko has had little to no income to cover essentials while healing from this traumatic incident.

It's taken Niko a few months to warm up to the idea of asking for aid outside of his close support systems. We raising funds to help Niko stay afloat during this time, and to get caught up on past bills. Your support will go toward covering basic living expenses and giving Niko the time and space to recover. Both physically and emotionally, from this unjust harm.
