** UPDATE **
In our family we are strong willed, stubborn and if you tell me I can’t or won’t… watch me!! So far Nikita has defied the odds and is a living miracle! Everything said she would not survive this, but so far she has. She has such a long hard road ahead but she did what they said she wouldn’t and regained consciousness. Where we are in this short time frame was not only unlikely but nearly unheard of. This brain injury is extreme and severe but she is aware of where she is and who we are. She still has her motor skills to breathe on her own and move her limbs slightly, which in itself is a literal miracle from God himself and should not be taken lightly.
A big sister is your first best friend. Someone that has lived through the same struggles through childhood, walked beside you through life, guided you, and supported you. She’s been my biggest cheerleader and I will always be hers. People come and go but your sister is constant and irreplaceable.
God please give Nikita and our family strength and help us physically mentally and emotionally heal and learn from this. Please walk with us on this journey and guide us to where we need to be and to who we are meant to be.
************************
As many have heard already, my sister Nikita Horne is currently unresponsive and on life support. Brought on by prior health conditions, she suffered a spontaneous brain hemorrhage located in her distal pons into her brain stem. It is inoperable due to the location, and the only thing doctors can do to help her right now is keep her sedated and keep her blood pressure down. Her vitals are stable, but she isn't able to breathe on her own yet. There’s significant swelling in her brain, and scans are showing that when she wakes up, it’s highly likely she will require extensive therapy to relearn her basic functions like eating, talking, and walking. The next 48 hours are critical, and she needs her rest and everyone’s prayers more than anything.
Nikita is very loved by so many and we are all still processing this. She has a very long road ahead of her, but it’s all in God’s hands now. Funds raised will go toward helping with current household bills where her son still lives and medical bills for Nikita and her family during this critical time. Any help is deeply appreciated, and we thank you for your prayers, support, and understanding.
