Hi everyone,

This fundraiser was created and written with Nicola’s permission. We are reaching out during an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time for our family as we rally around Nicola and her beloved son, Jelani Hilario.

Jelani is 25 years old and was born on August 7th, 2000. As many know, Jelani has lived with asthma for most of his life and suffered a severe asthma attack and sadly it has now progressed to a point where his transition to be with the Lord is beginning. This has been overwhelming for his family, especially his mother, as they navigate unimaginable emotional and financial challenges.

Jelani is known for having the biggest smile and even bigger heart—if you ever met him, you know exactly what that means. He always put others first and lived with kindness, love, and intention. He was an incredible big brother to his little brothers and little sister, who looked up to him, adored him, and saw him as a true role model. Jelani had many passions that brought joy to his life, including bowling, video editing, art and drawing, fishing and archery with his papa, and spending time with friends. He enjoyed gaming, shooting off fireworks with his friends during New Years and 4th of July, loved Halloween, and was a big fan of Michael Myers and Jason. He also cherished time at home with his fur baby, Gizmo, who brought him comfort and companionship.

This GoFundMe has been created to help Nicola and the family with any financial loss, as well as to assist in covering pending medical and related expenses that may have accrued during this time. Any contribution—no matter the amount—will help ease the financial burden so the family can focus on being present with Jelani and with one another.
