No parents should have to bury their child. But tragically, Alison Deyo and Ed Miller now face the unthinkable - saying goodbye to their son, Nick.
Nick’s life is ending far too soon. After nearly a decade of battling diabetes, Nick suffered a sudden and catastrophic drop in blood sugar that triggered multiple seizures. The result was severe and irreversible brain damage. Despite the heroic efforts of medical staff, doctors determined that the only remaining functional part of Nick’s brain lies near his brain stem. There is no hope for recovery, and on July 10th, 2025, Nick will be removed from life support.
But even in death, Nick is a hero.
He made the selfless decision to be an organ donor, and several of his organs, including his heart and kidneys, will give others a second chance at life. An Honor Walk will be held at the hospital on the day of his passing, allowing his family, friends, and caregivers to line the halls in gratitude and respect as he makes his final, lifesaving journey.
We are raising funds for a few deeply important reasons:
To Support His Grieving Parents.
Nick made it clear that he wanted to be buried, not cremated, a wish we are determined to honor. Funeral and burial costs are unfortunately significant, and this burden now falls upon his mother Alison and his father Ed at the worst possible time. Your donation, no matter how small, helps ease that financial strain and allows them both to grieve without the added weight of debt.
To Provide for His Three Young Sons.
Nick leaves behind three young boys who now face life without their father. Any funds raised beyond burial and funeral expenses will be equally divided among his sons and placed into accounts only they can access when they become adults. It’s a small way to give them a future their father would have fought to provide.
To Celebrate a Life of Quiet Courage.
Nick's battle with diabetes was long and often unseen by others, but he fought every day. And in his final moments, he chose to give others a second chance. That kind of courage and generosity deserves to be honored and remembered.
In a time where everyone is facing their own hardships, we are endlessly grateful for any contribution you can make. Your kindness means more than words can express, whether it’s helping a mother and father bury their son with dignity, supporting three innocent boys who have lost their dad, or simply recognizing the quiet heroism of a man whose final act was to save lives.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing. And thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for donating.
With love and gratitude,
The Family of Nick Miller.
