Our family could use some help getting back on our feet. We have been taking hits since 2020. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Nick was laid off from his job due to not being classified as an “essential worker.” To make ends meet, he did some Instacart shopping and doordash while applying for jobs. In 2021 Nick and his wife Ashley had to rush their cat, Maui, to the emergency vet and after many veterinary bills sadly had to say goodbye. In 2022 Nick found employment at a warehouse for a while but the position was not permanent and he was let go again. In 2023 Ashley's mother had to undergo emergency brain surgery to remove a growth. Thankfully it was benign. But the bills have piled up. Also, while Ashley's mother was in the hospital we stayed in Bellingham to help care for Ashley's grandmother as well. We did this while driving back and forth to UW hospital in Seattle to visit Ashley's mom while she was there. Once Ashley’s mother finally got to go home, we stayed up in Bellingham a bit longer until she was strong enough. In 2023 we had to say goodbye to 3 more of our cats (Amber, Benny and Tuxedo. They were our babies). Nick's mother ended up having to sell her house that Ashley and Nick were living in. We ended up staying in a house on Airbnb and the owner let us rent it out from them for 8 months until they ended up selling it. In the time we were in that house Ashley got really sick and had to have emergency surgery and stay in the hospital for a few days. Ashley ended up on oxygen for almost a year and her asthma kept getting worse. She also kept battling repeated pneumonia. Nick's mother's cancer got worse and he helped out as much as he could to help care for her. But sadly January 1st 2024 Nick's mom passed away. We moved out of the place we rented for 8 months into another Airbnb for a couple months. Nick continued applying for other warehouse jobs so we could move into a place more permanent like a house or apartment. While employers repeatedly showed continued interest in Nick and his skill set, no job ever became permanent or they just someone else. Soon Ashley's mother needed help taking care of her mother so, to help care for the family, Nick put his job search on hold and we ended up moving to Bellingham for a while. He applied for jobs there when he could and made ends meet with odd jobs and a bunch of Instacart. Unfortunately, Ashley's health started to decline and her asthma got worse. Nick took her to the hospital a lot, and he ended up taking Grandma to the hospital a couple times as well. In April of 2025 we all moved to Bonney Lake and stayed at a house for a few months. Ashley’s asthma improved slightly and she was finally able to function without the constant use of her nebulizer a couple of months after. Nick worked hard doing Instacart to try to help keep us all afloat while getting back to his employment search. Sadly, Ashley ended up in and out of the hospital with asthma problems once more. We keep having to move between Airbnb homes until we can get into a more permanent place and Nick can land a job that pays enough for us to move to a more permanent place—which we're finding is near impossible since most places now want you to earn at least 3 times the cost of rent. Now we're in 2026 and we have almost no funds and had to rush another cat to the emergency vet. Thankfully he is acting a bit better and hope he continues and we do not have to say goodbye to him as well. But we had to use money we didn't have. We need to move again in a couple days and need some help to do so. We’re wanting to stay at a place for 1 to 2 months and have Nick land a job that pays enough so we can finally move into a permanent place. Any money donated will be used to: 1) help us all stay in a place for up to 2 months 2) Help moving Ashley's recliner that she has to sleep in (due to health and asthma-related issues) and 3) some groceries to get by. Then, money will be used to help move us all into a home that we hope we can stay in for a few years. Thank you for any help. It is greatly appreciated.
