My son Nicholas, who is 30 years old, was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer back in December 2025. Nicholas is an avid reader and writer, always surrounded by books and stories of his own making. Since his diagnosis, our family has been traveling over an hour each way, nearly every day, for his doctor appointments and chemotherapy treatments. Each chemotherapy cycle involves long, exhausting days—sometimes 7-8 hours at a time.
The journey has been filled with challenges. Nicholas has faced fevers, dangerously low white blood cell counts, and swelling in both legs due to blood clots. Just as one problem begins to clear up, another seems to take its place. After his final chemotherapy cycle, we will need to return to the IU Cancer Treatment Center in Indianapolis to schedule any upcoming surgical procedures in mid-March.
The financial strain has been overwhelming. The costs of travel, hospital stays, emergency room visits, food, fuel, and other unexpected expenses have added up quickly. Nicholas’s income is currently zero, as he is unable to work, and his remaining savings are being stretched thin by ongoing car loan and school loan payments.
We are incredibly thankful for the support we have received from our family, friends, church, and community. Your prayers, kindness, and generosity have helped us through some of our darkest days. However, our journey is far from over, and we still have a long road ahead. Any help you can give—whether through donations, sharing our story, or offering words of encouragement—will make a real difference as we face this challenge with hope and determination.
