On July 4, Nelson Sandino’s three sons—Ian (15), Derek (14), and Yerik (12)—and their mother, Blanca Sanchez Sandino, were involved in a devastating head-on collision. Tragically, Blanca lost her life at the scene. Two of the boys suffered severe injuries and have undergone surgery. They remain hospitalized and face a long road to recovery, including additional medical care, rehabilitation, and months of healing. We are incredibly grateful that all three boys survived, but their journey is only beginning.

In an instant, Nelson’s life was forever changed. He is now grieving the heartbreaking loss of Blanca while remaining by his sons’ sides throughout their hospital stays, surgeries, and recovery. As their sole caregiver, Nelson will need to take an extended leave from work to provide the love, support, and care his boys will need in the weeks and months ahead.

We’re asking for help to ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult season. Donations will help provide for lost income while Nelson cares for his sons, medical expenses not covered by insurance, travel, meals, and lodging during hospital stays, rehabilitation and ongoing recovery needs, funeral expenses, and everyday living expenses as the family adjusts.
