Nelson Eddie Mendez, Sr., born on November 25, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on May 19, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will be cherished forever.
Nelson was a man whose presence could light up any room. He was bold, the life of the party, and known for his contagious spirit and joyful energy. He had a big heart and a compassionate nature that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for his sons had no boundaries, and the pride he carried for his family was evident in all he did. He was selfless, generous, and loving. Those qualities defined the way he lived his life each day.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Dorta Mendez, as well as his parents, Toribio Mendez and Luz Maria Mendez. Though their absence was deeply felt, Nelson carried their memory with him throughout his life and honored them through the strength, warmth, and devotion he showed to others.
Nelson is survived by his twin sons, Nelson Mendez, Jr. and Nicholas Mendez, who were the center of his world and the greatest source of his joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Minier and Myriam Medina, and his brother, David Mendez. His family will remember him not only for the love he gave so freely, but also for the laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support he offered throughout the years.
The funds donated will go to Nelson’s family, who worked night and day for 3 months to help him fight his battle with cancer. These funds will also cover the cost of burying a portion Nelson’s ashes with his parents and cost of burying his ashes with his wife in New York. Nelson’s family was determined to make sure he was given the celebration he deserves.
With much love,
The twins ❤️
