On Friday, March 13, 2026, a heartbreaking tragedy changed the lives of one family forever. That morning, Nazeer Paktyawal began his day like any loving father would, by dropping his children off at school. It was a simple act of care and responsibility that many parents do every day. After ensuring his children were safely at school, Nazeer returned home, unaware that his life was about to take a devastating turn. As he parked his car in his own parking lot, ICE officers who had arrived in two black SUVs detained him. What should have been a normal day quickly turned into a nightmare for his family. Just one day later, Nazeer’s brother received a call from an ICE officer with tragic news: Nazeer had passed away under unexplained circumstances.

Nazeer Paktyawal was a beloved father, brother, and friend who meant the world to his family and community. As a family friend, I am heartbroken to share that despite his urgent need for medical attention, ICE denied him care and let him die. This unimaginable loss has left his family shattered and without their sole provider.

Nazeer leaves behind six children, three girls and three boys, who depended on him for everything. His absence has created an overwhelming burden for his loved ones, who are now facing not only the pain of losing him but also the uncertainty of how to move forward.
