I’m creating this on behalf of my long-term friend Natasha, who has been going through an incredibly difficult situation. In the photo above, you’ll see Vivian (Natasha’s mom) on the left, me in the middle, and Natasha to the furthest right. My hope is to surprise Natasha with this GoFundMe once the goal is achieved, so she can feel the support and love from everyone who cares about her. At 55 years old, Natasha is currently the full-time caregiver for her mom, who is dealing with serious health and age-related issues. Because of this, she hasn’t been able to work or focus on her own life, and everything has been put on hold so she can take care of her mom. She’s doing everything she can, but it’s taken a financial and emotional toll. I wanted to create this to help ease some of that burden—whether it’s helping with basic living expenses, medical needs, or giving her the ability to get occasional help so she can rest.
The funds raised will go toward helping Natasha manage basic living expenses while she continues to care for her mom full-time. This includes things like rent, utilities, groceries, and any medical-related needs that come up. It will also help give her the ability to get occasional support or respite care, so she can take a break when needed and take care of herself as well. Right now, she has very little time or financial flexibility, and this support would help ease some of that pressure. Overall, the goal is to give her some stability during a really overwhelming time, so she can continue caring for her mom without completely sacrificing her own well-being.
If you’re able to support Natasha in any way, it would truly mean so much. She has been a huge part of my childhood and my life. Her and her mom gave me and my brother experiences we never would have had otherwise—things like Disneyland, SeaWorld, and days spent exploring places like Balboa Park. They always welcomed us in, whether it was playing with their pets, painting, or just creating a space where we felt safe and cared for. They are two of the strongest people I know. Her mom has already fought and overcome cancer once, and now faces ongoing challenges with schizophrenia and dementia. Her brother also lives with schizophrenia and needs professional support. Natasha is carrying so much on her shoulders, yet continues to stay positive and strong for everyone around her. She gives so much of herself so that the people she loves never feel like a burden. On top of everything she’s already carrying, Natasha is also navigating another deeply personal challenge. Someone very close to her—someone she’s known since they were young and recently reconnected with—is now going through serious health concerns. While things are still uncertain, it’s been incredibly heavy for her emotionally. She’s shared that he means the world to her, and she’s committed to being there for him no matter what. It’s just another layer of strength and love she continues to show, even while managing so much in her own life.
It honestly hurts my heart to see everything she’s going through right now. For the first time in a long time, it felt like she was finally getting a piece of the life she had been waiting for—reconnecting with someone so special to her and building something meaningful. Now, with his health becoming a concern as well, it’s just another weight added to everything she’s already carrying. Through it all, she continues to show up for everyone else with so much love and strength. I just want her to have a moment to breathe—to have even a small break from everything she’s been holding together on her own. Any support—whether it’s donating or simply sharing—can help ease that weight and remind her that she’s not alone. I want to set this funding goal and surprise her once its complete.
