Support For Nashville's Broadway Musicians

Donation protected
Musicians who make their living on Broadway make their money through the generosity of a world-wide audience. Due to recent events related to the corona virus outbreak, downtown is fully shutdown. Without an audience to play for, or stage to play on, musicians are facing the very real prospect of being unable to pay their bills in an already expensive local economy.

The way to help is simple, the financial burden minimal. The question is...how?

The same way modern Nashville modern was built. One share, one status, one story at time. Sharing an experience is the same as saving one—it’s done by word of mouth. We are all responsible and can all help in incalculable ways. In the end, one person at a time.

We ask $1 from every individual who loves Nashville. We ask $1 from anyone who has ever chased a dream. We ask for $1 to save future vacations, memories, and experiences. Additionally, we ask $1000 from the venues downtown for which the musicians perform, and whose efforts have contributed to an unprecedented expansion. We understand this could be difficult under the circumstances, but money is only one way to contribute. We need help from local venues and restaurants to use their platforms to help get the word out to their customer base. Sharing on social media or mobilizing other contacts to spread the word can be an invaluable support system for musicians beyond monetary support.

Our proposal is not to spend an endless amount to save everyone, it’s to be strategic. The musician base that plays downtown is too wide, too varied for any one person, venue, or organization to save outright. This is more than an effort to help musicians in need. This is an effort to save the idea of Nashville itself.

Music City cannot be Music City without its musicians. This go fund me campaign is about generating revenue to distribute nationally, locally, and individually. Our campaign has a modest $100,000 goal. Some may laugh at
“modest” and “$100,000” in the same sentence. Still, if all of Nashville’s business and customer base contributes, it’s a goal easily reached. What’s more, everyone can contribute with little to no financial risk.

We ask everyone, businesses and people alike, to share the Go Fund Me effort with the hashtag #savemusicianssavenashville. Now is the time to stand with us, and keep the music in music city alive. Please check out our facebook page @SavetheMusiciansSaveNashvilleOur Direct Facebook Page .

UPDATE: First, thank you to everyone who graciously donated to the Go Fund Me Page. A total of $1445.00 was raised, with a net-total of 1391.00 after GFM deductions. Plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to local charities met with some unforeseen challenges. In light of this, 100% of the money will be donated to Musiccares.org.
