A few weeks ago, I was admitted to the hospital because of poor kidney lab values. I was very confused and didn’t know what day it was, and soon learned that I would need to start dialysis three times a week for four hours each session. This is a lifelong change that I need to adjust to, and I am not able to work right now. I’m hoping that with time, I’ll be able to return to work next year, but for now, I’m taking things one day at a time.

The impact on my family has been overwhelming. We’re trying to cover everyday expenses, medical bills, our mortgage, car payments, and so much more.
