This past July, my mother underwent an important surgical procedure for a renal artery stent that unfortunately resulted in the formation of a blood clot, compromising blood flow to her only, already diseased kidney. That single clot landed her back in the hospital, but this time kept her there for 67 days, fighting to recover.
During those two brutal months, she endured ten surgeries, multiple blood transfusions and wound-vac changes, and three-hour rounds of dialysis three times a week. She finally made it home on October 25th, but her recovery is far from over. Now diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), her kidney has lost nearly all function, and she will remain on dialysis indefinitely.
She has no active health insurance (applications are pending) and is unable to work, as well as my father, who has taken leave from work to be a large part of her full time care team, and drive her to and from the multiple dialysis sessions she needs each week.
We’re asking for help — any amount, large or small, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this means the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for keeping her in your thoughts. ❤️
