On the afternoon of November 12, my dad came home from work and found my mom, Nan Washburn, unresponsive with no pulse. He immediately called 911, and thanks to the quick response of EMS, they were able to get her pulse back. However, it’s still unknown how long she was without a heartbeat, and the doctors at VMH believe she may have suffered a catastrophic brain bleed. She was transferred to Gunderson in La Crosse, where her condition remains uncertain. We are hoping for the best, but the future is unclear right now.

Nan is the heart of our family—a give-everything kind of person who means the world to everyone around her. She works locally, is loved deeply by her grandchildren, and is cherished by all of us—her children and my dad. This sudden emergency has left us all in shock, and it’s incredibly hard to put into words how much she means to us and our community.
