For the past few years, my family and I have faced some of the hardest times of our lives. A year ago today, we lost my grandmother, and not long before that, my mother was diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimer’s. I made the difficult decision to quit my job so I could care for both my mom and grandma, wanting to be there for them in every way I could. As my mom’s condition worsened, we had to make the tough choice to seek outside help, and through it all, I found myself at my lowest—struggling with depression and trying to keep my head above water.

I’ve applied for loans and was denied several times, and I even tried going down the self-employment path, but those didn’t go as planned either. I’m being honest when I say I’m desperate, and I hope that no one shames me or my family for asking for help. With everything happening in the world today, it’s been even harder to stay afloat. Bills and expenses have piled up, and I’m struggling to keep up with it all. The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward my mom’s living expenses, paying off rent, covering my own medical bills, and helping my sister and her young children. Every bit of support will make a real difference for us.

I can’t put into enough words how grateful I would be, how grateful my family would be. The amount of stress that could fall off our shoulders is hard to describe. Not having to resort to desperate measures to figure all this out would mean the world to us.
