Support for Nadia and Igor

On February 24th, Russian forces invaded Ukraine. Millions are fleeing from the violence, and families are being torn apart as men between the age of 18-60 are called to serve in the army. Refugee families escaping conflict-stricken areas like Kyiv are in urgent need of your help.

The conflict hits close to home for one of our Madeleine families, the Legrand Quevys. Their extended Ukranian family, Nadia and Igor, are living the nightmare first-hand.

Nadia and Igor raised a family in the Ukraine where Nadia had a career as a professor at University of Lviv, and Igor dedicated his work to restoring churches and other historic buildings. They retired in Lviv while their children, Yarko and Stefa, had families of their own and moved to Kyiv.

Life abruptly changed on February 24th when Yarko and Stefa, their spouses and their children fled at 3 a.m. from the bombings with only a few items they could fit into their car. They made it safely to Nadia and Igor’s house in Lviv.

They fled Kyiv just in time. That night Kyiv was bombed, and they lost everything that they had to leave behind. Despite their unimaginable circumstances, they are still helping others and are currently volunteering at a shelter for fellow displaced Ukranians.

Now Nadia, Igor and their family face the challenge of juggling basic needs for survival, the call to serve, and planning next steps in a time of chaos and uncertainty. They might have to leave Lviv soon and relocate with family in France until they are able to safely return to the Ukraine to rebuild.

There a 12 members of the family sheltering in Lviv, and their immediate needs are necessities like food, clothing, bedding, and medicine. Currently there is such a scarcity of goods that supplies are difficult to get, and prices are grossly inflated.

Their long-term needs will be financial resources to resettle and rebuild.

We are able to send all financial help directly to Nadia and Igor, and we will share updates on their fast-changing situation.

Thank you for your prayers and wishes for the family. Please continue to hold them in your hearts. And if you are able, please consider a financial gift of any amount to help with both immediate and long-term needs.
