Support for Myrtle Hensley's Cremation Costs

Donation protected
I'm raising money for the costs of cremating my mother, Myrtle Hensley, who passed away on April 22nd, 2026. This fundraiser will cover the cremation costs plus the urn and necklaces for ashes for myself and my two daughters.

Most people have been made aware of my mom’s increasing health problems. For 5 years I was my mom’s primary care giver along the side of a close family friend Theresa. For almost 6 years what started as just major lung disease turned into lung cancer and ultimately lung failure. She was oxygen dependent for many years and over the years she needed more and more help the it lead to hospitalization after hospitalization. Rehab after rehab. The last hospital stay was a result of finding her unconscious after seeing her awake and cohearant hours prior. Rushing to hospital where we couldn’t get her stable on regular oxygen over a months span. My mom made the choice to get on hospice and ultimately leading to a full time facility because she needed care that I could no longer give her. She knew she was dying she was at peace with it and only wanted family and friends at her side at the end. For her weeks leading up to her passing I did my best to facilitate every wish. The last week once she was safe to move they transferred her to bayside on poquoson a day later she was no longer talking to us. We still came day and night to see her. Family came and kept her company. It was beautiful to see the love my mom had experienced through out her life. Lives she touched. A week to the day of her transferring to the facility my mother took her last breath with her grandchildren and daughters at her side holding her hand and showering her with love.
she’s at peace now with my daddy (Barney Hensley) my papa, William Chapin, my uncle Neil, cousin Bobby, sister Deloris and my biological mother Angie and so many others who we have lost before her including her twins she lost before they could enter this world. I know she was welcomed with so much love.

it’s surreal to loose a parent. Your world gets quite a world where everyday you had a routine to see your mom. Every day of my life is gonna be different. She left grandkids who are her entire world that have to learn our knew normal but we will be okay and she knew that ❤️

however as many of you may know my mom was just on disability which has now ended and I am a mother of 3. I was her paid care giver and between the hospitalizations and rehab stays that has dwindled away. I have been a fully stay at home mom for the last few months handling my mom’s up and down health needs and care.

she did not have anything set aside for this and neither did I. (I mean who could afford it nowadays) so I’m asking for help from friends, family and potentially kind strangers.

i have met with and started a pre arrangement at park lawn funeral home. The directors helped me get it down to the lowest basic direct cremation service. I will be holding a memorial on my own in the coming month around Mother’s Day and will keep that day posted with friends and family members. I am trying to keep costs minimal so I am finding an urn online to bring mom home in and my kids all want memorial necklaces to have her with them every day. We planned to look on Amazon ( the same as I did for my daddy) for complete transparency. We are looking for any and all help with funding this. Help me bring mom home where she belongs ❤️

I appreciate any and all donations, no matter the size, and thank you all in advance.
