Our Hope Journey
In mid January, I was facing one of the hardest decisions of my life. On January 12th 2026 I was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 breast cancer, at the age of 45.
My doctors recommended an aggressive chemotherapy regimen. Because I live with Type 1 diabetes, the risks and potential complications were significant. Jason and I spent many long nights praying, seeking wise counsel, and carefully weighing every option.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” — James 1:5
After much prayer and thoughtful research, we have chosen to pursue treatment at Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Envita takes a personalized, integrative approach — matching my specific advanced HER2 negative cancer and body chemistry to targeted low-dose chemotherapy while also strengthening my immune system and supporting my body through treatment. This approach has given us a deep sense of peace and hope.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” — Proverbs 3:5–6
The Financial Need:
The cost of treatment is a minimum of $145,000 for 12–14 weeks, not including travel and living expenses.
By God’s grace and your extraordinary generosity, we have already raised $77,000 through direct donations and through this Go Fund Me account, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Every donation, prayer, message, and share has carried us more than you know.
We still have a significant gap to close, and the timeline for care is moving quickly. In addition to treatment costs, we will have:
• Cross-country travel expenses • Temporary housing in Arizona
• Ongoing family living expenses
• Extensive bloodwork and a PET scan prior to treatment
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
Our Timeline:
We plan to leave on April 10th, driving west together as a family. We will check into our Airbnb on April 15th, and I will have my all-day initial appointment on April 16th, beginning treatment immediately.
Jason will return home after we are settled so he can continue working. The kids will remain with me in Arizona to help care for me and finish their homeschool year remotely. We are incredibly thankful for our homeschool community at GCA — their love and support have been such a gift to us.
“The Lord bless you and keep you…” — Numbers 6:24–26
How You Can Help:
If you feel led to give or share, we are deeply grateful. Every gift helps cover treatment, travel, and living expenses so I can focus fully on healing.
Ways to Give:
• Directly to Envita Medical Center. Ask for the billing department and give them my name (Stephanie Hurley) to apply your gift directly toward my treatment.
• Through our GoFundMe page by clicking on the donate button.
You can also share this link with others who may feel led to support or pray.
More than anything, we ask for your continued prayers — for wisdom, endurance, protection, and complete healing.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
God has been so gracious and near through every step of this journey.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” — Hebrews 11:1
Thank you for walking this road with us. Your love and support mean more than we can ever say.
