I would like to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to my medical fund and provided support during one of the most challenging periods of my life.
As the new year commences and my deductible resets, I am faced with significant financial obstacles. Currently, I am unable to schedule my surgeries until I meet my deductible. I am currently on long-term disability, and it is imperative that I stay on track with my appointments and get my surgeries done, or I may lose my monthly benefits. Initially, I was scheduled to undergo surgery on December 30, which would have been fully covered under my previous deductible. However, I experienced a flare-up and was forced to postpone the procedure. This setback caused considerable distress, but I have come to realize that such events often occur for a reason.
Regrettably, I am required to pay upfront for my spinal cord stimulator procedure, which I am eager to prioritize. Due to my limited budget, I have made the difficult decision to return my ASV breathing machine, as the monthly rental fee of nearly $300, combined with my substantial co-pays and deductible, is unsustainable. My co-pay for specialist consultations is $80, and I will be incurring $320 in out-of-pocket expenses this month.
The current healthcare system is fundamentally flawed, and individuals like myself, who rely heavily on it, are struggling to cope. While I am learning to accept my new circumstances, it is a challenging and humbling experience, particularly for someone who values independence. If you are able to provide any assistance, I would be deeply grateful for your support.
