Hi, my name is Meg, and I’m an amputee in Georgia who’s facing multiple major surgeries and a long recovery that has left me scared and overwhelmed.
In January, I fell and broke my shoulder. Instead of healing, my body has started reabsorbing the bone, so surgery is now the only option to save my shoulder and restore function. At the same time, I’ve had massive swelling in my right leg since the fall, making it impossible to wear my prosthesis. I’ve been completely wheelchair-dependent for two months.
Tomorrow morning (March 3) I have two CT scans—one for surgical planning on my shoulder and one to create a treatment plan for my leg. On top of that, I’m scheduled for colorectal surgery on March 20. Three major medical events in the next few weeks, while I live alone.
I’m terrified of the pain, the recovery, and not being able to do the simplest things—opening a can of soup, reaching the microwave, getting in and out of bed, or even basic hygiene. As an amputee, losing my independence like this has been heartbreaking. I desperately need in-home care assistance for the first 4–6 weeks after each procedure so I can heal safely instead of struggling alone.
Here’s exactly what the donations will help with:
• In-home care aide (several hours a day for recovery support)
• Prepared meals or grocery delivery (I physically can’t shop or cook right now)
• Copays for the shoulder surgery, leg evaluation/treatment, colorectal surgery, and tomorrow’s CT scans
• Basic household help (cleaning, laundry, transportation to follow-ups)
Any amount truly helps—$10, $25, $50, or more. Even $20 can cover a few meals or part of a copay. Your support will let me focus on healing instead of worrying about how I’ll survive day-to-day.
I’m grateful for every single donation, share, and kind word. Please consider helping me get through this incredibly difficult chapter. Sharing this page with your friends and family would mean the world.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Meg ❤️
