On Saturday, February 28, my son suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) with a skull fracture and seizures after a skateboarding fall, resulting in brain bleeding. He is recovering well, but he is unable to work until cleared by all of his specialists. The journey has been overwhelming, and while we are grateful for his progress, the road ahead is still uncertain.

Right now, I am in the process of getting him Medicaid, but in the state of North Carolina, very few specialists take Medicaid or there is a waiting list to be seen. I would like to get him private insurance for his treatment and also to help with his living expenses until he is able to return to work. As his mother, I am doing everything I can to support him, but the costs are more than I can manage alone.

I want to thank everyone for all of the prayers that surrounded my family during the critical time in ICU. As a community of people who know me as a single mother of two, asking for support during this difficult time is my only option while I continue to work both my full-time and part-time jobs and assist my son with his recovery.
