On a day that started like any other, my 12 year old son was riding his moped with his cousin when tragedy struck. He was hit by a truck, suffering a broken femur and severe damage to his leg. The doctors did everything they could, but ultimately had to Amputate his lower leg to save his life. He is now in the hospital, slowly waking up after surgery, and our family is doing our best to stay strong for him.

This has been an incredibly difficult time for us, especially because his cousin, who was with him during the accident, did not survive. The emotional pain and shock have been overwhelming, but we are trying to focus on my son's recovery and the long road ahead. He will need extensive physical therapy, ongoing medical care, and eventually a prosthetic to help him regain his independence.
