My son is 6 years old and autistic. He has always struggled with severe constipation, food aversions, and eating challenges. We recently moved to Florida so he could attend a special school for autism, hoping it would give him the support he needs. Since moving, he has been hospitalized twice. Most recently, we spent a month in the hospital, from December 13 to January 12, and he was released with a G tube to help with his nutrition and health.
During this time, I was unable to work, and our financial situation became even more difficult. While we were in the hospital, my truck broke down and had to be towed. It now needs repairs, including new tires, so I can get my son to his follow-up appointments and therapy. For the next two months, he won’t be able to attend school, and I will need to miss more work to care for him and set up new therapies. We are still settling in after our move and haven’t been able to build up any savings.
Any donations will go directly toward helping my son adjust to his G tube—buying supplies like a belly band to protect and stabilize the tube, covers to keep it clean during baths, a bookbag so he can be mobile while feeding, and special clothing to make access easier and safer. I will also use funds to purchase the formula he needs, since insurance doesn’t cover all of it, and to repair our truck so we can get to appointments. Your support will help us pay bills and allow me to be there for my son as he heals. Thank you so much for reading our story and for any help you can give. I know it’s a hard time for everyone, and your kindness means the world to us.
