As many of you know, my sister has been dealing with breast cancer for the past 11 years. She was first diagnosed in 2015, went through treatment (radiation, chemotherapy, and surgeries), got better, and then faced a recurrence just a year later. After another round of treatment, she enjoyed a few years cancer-free, only to learn in 2023 that the cancer had returned and metastasized to her lungs and brain. Now, she faces this battle daily, having undergone six Gamma knife brain surgeries to remove twelve brain tumors, along with monthly chemotherapy, PET scans, and brain MRIs to manage her condition. Through this she tries to remain upbeat, joyful, exercise and continues to work a full time job. She is supported by her loving husband, Seth, and their two children, Emily and Avi, who is 22 years old.
Sadly, during all of this, her daughter Emily also began to face serious health challenges. In 2019, Emily started to become very sick. While Lyme disease was initially suspected (and still not ruled out), she has since been diagnosed with multiple chronic conditions that have only worsened over time including vascular compression disorders, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a rare connective tissue disease), a blood clotting disorder, mast cell activation syndrome, and dysautonomia. She is currently undergoing further testing for new gastrointestinal complications that have developed over the past several months. At just 26, Emily is unable to work or lead a normal life.
Throughout the years my sister and her family have tried to handle their medical expenses on their own, but as the treatments, procedures, and testing continue, the financial burden has become overwhelming. They are not ones to ask for help, but they have reached a point where they truly need support. Our family would be extremely grateful for any donation you are able to give or if you are able to share their story, to help them through this incredibly difficult time.
