Help Bring Brigitte Home: A Mother’s Fight for Recovery After a Brain Hemorrhage

A mother of two is fighting through the most terrifying moments of her life, thousands of miles away from home, while her children and family desperately wait for her return.

On October 14, Brigitte, a loving mother of two from Gatineau, Quebec, suffered a devastating brain hemorrhage while vacationing in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

What was supposed to be a beautiful vacation has turned into an unimaginable nightmare for Brigitte and everyone who loves her.

Brigitte is currently hospitalized in Santo Domingo, far away from her home, her children, and the comfort of her family.

Tomorrow, October 16, at 4:00 a.m., Brigitte is scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove the blood that is causing pressure on her brain.

This is an incredibly serious and frightening situation. Brigitte is scared. Her children are scared. Her family is terrified of what lies ahead.

And while everyone is praying for a successful surgery, the reality is that this is only the beginning of a very long journey.

A Long Road to Recovery

Brigitte is expected to remain hospitalized in the Dominican Republic for anywhere between three weeks and two to three months, depending on her condition and recovery.

Once she is medically stable enough to travel, she will need to be transported back to Canada by a specialized medical aircraft to continue receiving hospital care in Montreal.

Even after returning to Canada, her recovery will not simply be over.

She will need time to heal, recover her strength, and receive the medical care necessary to move forward.

During all of this, Brigitte will be unable to work, but her financial responsibilities will not stop.

Two Children Are Waiting for Their Mom

Brigitte has two children who need their mother.

With Christmas just around the corner, what should be a joyful and exciting time for her children has instead become filled with fear, uncertainty, and worry.

They don’t know when their mom will be coming home.

They don’t know what the next few weeks or months will bring.

And while their family is doing everything possible to support them, the financial reality is becoming overwhelming.

Brigitte does not have significant savings to fall back on during this emergency.

Her bills will continue arriving. Her household expenses will continue. Her children will still need everything they normally need, even while their mother is fighting to recover thousands of miles away.
