Support for My Scleroderma Battle
Donation protected
My name is David Johnson, and 8 months ago I was diagnosed with Scleroderma, a terminal disease, where my body produces to much collagen that slowly kills me from the inside out. When I was first diagnosed, the doctors gave me a life expectancy of 7–10 years. At my most recent visit, they revised that to just 3–5 years.
As many of you know, I’ve been the sole caregiver for my mother. Unfortunately, due to my declining health, I’ve become unable to work. The swelling in my hands now prevents me from making a full fist, and I can no longer fully bend my arms. The disease has also affected my lungs, leaving permanent scarring in the lower lobes.
Because I had to leave my job due to not being able to preform everyday tasks anymore, I lost my health insurance. I’ve applied for disability, but the waiting list is currently over 12 months. In the meantime, my monthly prescription costs are around $1,500 — which is entirely out of pocket.
I’ve been accepted into a medical trial in Houston, and I’m hopeful this could help, but even getting to and from appointments requires money for gas and travel.
Every donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward covering medication, treatment, and related medical expenses.
Thank you for your support, your prayers, and for helping me continue this fight.
