In January 2025, my life changed instantly when a commercial garage door closed on my head at work. The accident left me with two ruptured discs in my neck, a traumatic brain injury, and ongoing neurological issues. For the past 16 months, I’ve been stuck in the workers’ compensation system trying to get the cervical fusion surgery I urgently need. While I do receive weekly payments, they’re only about half of my normal income. As a single dad of two, that gap has forced me to max out credit cards and take on debt just to cover basic needs like rent, utilities, and groceries.
I’m currently in constant pain and unable to return to physical work. If I try to go back too soon, I risk losing both my workers’ comp benefits and access to the medical care I still need. At the same time, delaying surgery increases the risk of permanent nerve damage as my spinal cord continues to be compressed. I’m finally getting close to surgery, but recovery is expected to take another 6–9 months before I can return to work.
I’m asking for help to bridge this gap. Funds raised will go toward:
- Rent and utilities
- Groceries and daily expenses
- Minimum payments on existing debt
This support will allow me to focus on recovery and keep some stability in my kids’ lives during a really difficult time. If you’re able to help, thank you—it truly means everything to us. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would make a huge difference.
