I’m not usually one to ask for help.  My mother has been battling ovarian cancer for the last year and a half.  I’ve been her main caretaker during this time, putting my own life on hold to support her. While I am grateful to be there for her, it has been a journey filled with ups and downs, and I have had to manage most of it on my own. Recently, she moved to home hospice care, which has brought new challenges and expenses. Although we now have more help from hospice, I still carry many responsibilities for her care and personal affairs. I haven’t been able to work much the last 1.5 years, and the costs of end-of-life care have increased, making it difficult to keep up with bills and daily needs.

The donations will help cover living expenses and any unexpected large expenses that may come up with end-of-life care. This includes small things like food delivery when I can’t cook, groceries, and travel expenses for out-of-town family, as well as making sure we can pay our monthly bills. It will also help with any services needed for my mother’s funeral or celebration of her life. Your support will make a real difference in helping us through this difficult transition and honoring my mother’s wishes.

A time like this is so hard, but I know how many people my mother touched with her kindness, generosity, love of life, intellect, and art. So it means a great deal for us to receive help to honor her wishes and make this a smooth transition for her and our family, especially in a time when life is so hard for so many.
