Prior to November 1, 2025, my mom was vibrant, outgoing, and in great shape. She was the kind of person who would walk to the store twice a day and ran a dog walking business, always helping neighbors and staying active. I called her every morning and night to check in, and everything seemed to be going well. Then, one morning, she mentioned a small fingertip-sized nub on her lower stomach. I reassured her that it was probably nothing serious, but we decided to get it checked out by a doctor just to be safe.
After some lab work, the doctor recommended a full hysterectomy, which was performed on December 2nd. The surgeon called me after the operation to say that while the surgery went well, they had found a cancerous mass attached to the hysterectomy. He believed he had removed the mass, but my mom would need time to heal from the invasive procedure. My mom is 84 years old, and hearing about the cancer was devastating. She had always been diligent about her health, visiting the doctor regularly and showing no signs of illness. This diagnosis blindsided both of us.
Since then, I have become my mom’s 24-hour nurse, putting my job and family on hold to care for her. The recovery from surgery was tough, and now we are facing the challenges of radiation and chemotherapy for terminal sarcoma cancer. The emotional, spiritual, and financial toll has been immense. We are doing everything we can to make her remaining time as comfortable and meaningful as possible, but we need help. The funds raised will go toward living expenses, food, and final funeral expenses, including a celebration of life. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
