This is my grandma, whom we call ‘Mami’. Earlier this week, she was confined in Manila Doctors, Philippines for Pneumonia.
In mid July, she lost her other half, my grandpa, who succumbed to cancer. No later than two weeks, she was urgently admitted to the Emergency Room due to high fever, shortness of breath, and stomach pain.
My grandma’s strength is like no other. She is known for her love and care; her devotion to church, and overall, her wonderful presence. She has worked hard for our family: send us to school and give us a good life. Now, she needs our help.
My family is extremely blessed to say that she is regaining her strength. Her oxygen level has progressed to 97% as of August 3rd and is able to be released. However, the bill has been totaled to half a million pesos. Although some expenses are covered by my family, unfortunately, we are still experiencing financial strains from my grandpa’s passing. The hospital requires for us to pay at least 250,000 PHP pesos, which is equivalent to about 6,000 US dollars—only to release my grandma.
