Hello everyone. I am 23 years old and just graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Two years ago, my life changed dramatically when I began to notice a decline in my upper body strength at the gym (I used to bench 250+ and now struggle to hold my phone).
Every month since, I have continued to get weaker, and now my entire body is severely affected. I can no longer stand, walk, comb my hair, dress myself, or do any basic daily living activities. After seeing many specialists and trying different treatments, it appears that I have an unknown muscular/neurological disease, which is extremely rare for someone my age. No doctor seems to know exactly what is wrong since my neurological presentation is atypical. I have been to the Mayo Clinic for extensive emg/ncs testing, spent a month in Mexico at Sanoviv Medical Institute (hyperthermia, countless IVs and plasmapheresis), treated Lyme disease for months with antibiotics/supplements (hoping this was my root cause), and followed the protocol of my neurologist by trialing IVIG, steroids, and rituximab… but nothing has helped, and my rapid progression has continued.
Though times have been difficult, I have a caring family, a girlfriend, countless friends, and ultimately a powerful God on my side. Through it all, I continue to trust in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and hold onto hope for healing.
The financial burden of my illness has been difficult for my family to endure. There are other treatments I want to try that are not covered by insurance, such as custom neurological peptides, potential visits to other medical centers, and help with a wheelchair-accessible van. Your support will help me access the care and equipment I need to keep up the fight.
Thank you for your prayers and support; all donations, big or small, mean the world to my family and me. God bless! (Isaiah 43:2)
