Our family is asking for prayers, support, and help during one of the most difficult times we have ever faced. My father works at Nick’s Supermarket in the Irish Channel near Magazine Street. While at work, he became involved in an altercation with a customer—someone he had problems with in the past at the store—that tragically escalated into a violent attack. He was struck with a machete, suffering multiple direct hits to his face and devastating injuries. As a result of the attack, my father is in critical condition, has been placed in a medically induced coma, and is undergoing multiple surgeries. Doctors have informed us that his right eye cannot be saved, and he will permanently lose vision in that eye.
Anyone who knows my father knows that he is a hardworking, kind-hearted man who is always willing to help others. Originally from Ethiopia, he has spent his life working tirelessly to provide for himself and those around him. He has always shown love, generosity, and compassion to everyone he meets. The emotional and financial burden on our family has been overwhelming. We are raising funds to help cover medical expenses, recovery costs, and the many challenges that lie ahead as he begins what will be a long road to healing.
Just one month ago, my father received the exciting news that he was going to become a grandfather. Now, only days before Father's Day, he is fighting for his life in a hospital bed. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference and help support our family during this unimaginable time. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please keep my father in your prayers and share this fundraiser with others. Thank you for every phone call, prayer, message, tear, and act of kindness. The love and support shown to our family has meant more than words can express.
