My father has always been the friendliest man alive. Even as life threw countless setbacks his way, he walked the streets with a smile, greeting every person he passed. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with Coccidioidal meningitis, a severe and life-threatening fungal infection of the brain and spinal cord lining. This illness, caused by inhaling spores found in the soil of the Southwestern US and parts of Latin America, changed his life forever. Despite aggressive treatments and his own deep struggles with depression, he never showed anger or resentment toward anyone. He called everyone his friend and continued to spread kindness wherever he could.
Sadly, after years of fighting, the infection has spread deep into his brain, leaving him in a vegetative state. Our family is heartbroken, but we want to honor his memory and the love he showed to everyone around him.
We are raising funds to help cover his funeral expenses. Any support—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—would mean the world to us. My father’s life was a reminder of the love we should have for one another, and we hope to give him a farewell that reflects the kindness he gave so freely.
