Support for My Father’s End-of-Life Care
Donation protected
Dear friends, community, and compassionate strangers,
My name is Samantha, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of my life.
Approximately three weeks ago, my father was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes, which ultimately led to the amputation of his left leg. Since then, his condition has remained critical. He is no longer mentally present and is unable to make his own medical decisions. I have become his sole advocate, navigating the emotional, medical, and logistical challenges of his care without support from my immediate family or his wife.
I am currently traveling between the Bay Area and Long Beach to be with him, doing everything in my power to ensure he is treated with dignity and compassion during this incredibly painful time. While I continue to fight for his comfort, I am also preparing for the inevitable per his care team's concerns.
When that moment comes, I plan to cremate him—something I’ve had to come to terms with on my own. Cremation is the most affordable and respectful option available to me, but even that carries costs that are difficult to bear alone.
I am asking for your support—whether it's $5, $50, or simply sharing this page. Every contribution helps lighten the financial and emotional burden I carry right now. These funds will go directly toward:
- Cremation and end-of-life service expenses
- Travel costs between the Bay Area and Long Beach
- Any remaining medical fees related to his care
This is not how I ever imagined saying goodbye to my father, but I’m doing my best to honor him, even through heartbreak and hardship. Your kindness, generosity, and solidarity mean more than words can express.
Thank you for holding me and my father in your thoughts.
With deep gratitude,
Samantha Garcia
