Our family is going through an incredibly difficult time, and we’re reaching out to our community for support.
After more than 40 years of marriage, our father/father-in-law, Chuck, recently lost his beloved wife, Kathy, after her long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Watching someone you love fight such a difficult illness is heartbreaking, but through it all, she was surrounded by the love of her family—especially her husband.
This loss comes after another unimaginable tragedy. Just a little over a year ago, their daughter, Elizabeth, passed away in a tragic car accident. Not long ago, Chuck’s home was full of life—Chuck, his wife, their daughter, and two of their grandchildren. Today, he finds himself navigating his grief the best he can, after losing two of the most important people in his life in such a short time.
Despite all of this, Chuck has always been someone who gives to others. He is deeply involved in his church, participates in community outreach, and is a loving and supportive grandfather who continues to show up for his grandchildren no matter what.
Both he and his wife were on disability and living on a limited income. Now that she has passed, he is facing a sudden financial strain while trying to navigate the changes to their household income and Social Security benefits.
We are starting this fundraiser to help ease some of the immediate burdens during this incredibly difficult transition. The funds raised will help cover:
Cremation expenses
The reception following the funeral service (the church has graciously offered to cover the funeral itself)
Household bills and basic living expenses while he works through the financial changes ahead
Our goal is simply to give him some breathing room during a time of grief, so he can focus on healing. If you are able to donate, any amount is deeply appreciated. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser and keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers means just as much.
Thank you for supporting Chuck and our family during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
The Esparza & Derrough Families
