My name is Marcie Erwin and my husband’s name is Marc. We have been through an incredibly challenging time over the past three years. My husband has undergone two liver transplants in less than two years, and I have had to step away from work to care for him both at home and during his many hospital stays. Just three weeks ago, my stepfather was admitted to the hospital with no release date in sight. He has suffered a heart attack, developed sepsis, and is now on dialysis. The emotional and financial toll of these medical emergencies has been overwhelming for our family.

To make ends meet and because I could work whether we were at home or in Birmingham at UAB, I worked as a delivery driver for DoorDash, Uber Eats and Roadie. That was sufficient enough to get by, until this past summer when my car broke down. Not having that income, quickly lead to my broke down car getting repossessed. I’m still able to set up a booth at trade day each weekend and sell random items. However, the amount I make is very small.

The funds raised will help us cover mounting medical bills, essential living expenses, and the costs of traveling to and from the hospital for my husband's ongoing doctor appointments. They will also allow me to support my mother as she navigates my stepfather's serious health challenges. Every bit of support will help us focus on healing and being there for each other during this difficult time.
