Hi friends,
My parents has always been first to me. In every way they have taught me time and again to be human to others, and have fostered a strong sense of giving back to the community through their actions and sacrifices for myself, my three sisters, and everyone else in our family. They came here from Vietnam and passionately pursued the journey to be proud owners of their own restaurant business, and to provide the best for the family. With their small business, they've managed to take care of our family, their workers, and pour their heart and souls into serving our community, never once complaining about the hardships in front of me or my sisters.
Covid-19 brought our family restaurant to make some hard decisions; from cutting workers from their jobs, to learning to utilize technology in order to adapt to the conditions. I had sat down with my father the other day, and had a very real conversation with him.
He spoke about how government aid provided very little to his business, and how the loans offered to him are way too high in interest.
He spoke about how the restaurant had lost 2/3 of business since March, and even if quarantine were to end, the business doesn't just grow back to normal.
He spoke to me about his worries of not being able to pay rent, both our own house and the restaurant.
Lastly, he spoke of my mother, a woman who each passing day limps more and more to work because of her devotion to her family. Her pain didn't matter, her family was first, and as long as it took she was pressing herself to go to work to make sure everyone in our house was taken care of.
This broke me. I am still working to finish out my school loans and I've only just begun to build a business of my own. So I'm turning to my community in which I've invested myself into for so many years. I only hope that I've made a positive impact to you in some way, and that you've been able to learn something valuable with the time I've given to you. Your support would mean everything in this situation, and I hope you find it in your heart to help my family out.
All donations would go straight to my family for them to utilize to transition their store to work with the quarantine situation, and hopefully even cover some of their home mortgage rent.
