I have stage 5 renal failure and am currently waiting for a new kidney. This has been an incredibly challenging journey for my family and me, and we are doing our best to stay hopeful as we wait for the call that a donor is available. When the time comes for my transplant, my husband will be by my side as my caregiver. He will need to take about six weeks off work to care for me, as I cannot be left alone for at least a month after surgery. If my body rejects the new kidney, it can happen very quickly, so having him with me is essential for my safety and recovery. My husband is a retired Marine who served our country for 22 years, and now he is stepping up once again to support our family through this difficult time.
While we are grateful for the opportunity to receive a transplant, the financial strain of my husband taking time off work is overwhelming. The funds raised will help us cover our living expenses, such as utility bills and food, for our family—including our 13-year-old son—while my husband is unable to work. Your support will allow us to focus on my recovery without the added stress of worrying about how to make ends meet.
I can’t thank you enough for helping my family during this stressful time. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any support you can offer.
