Support for My Family During Dad’s Alzheimer Care

My dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's/dementia, and it has turned our world upside down. Watching him decline—losing pieces of himself and struggling with daily tasks—has been incredibly painful for all of us. Seeing the toll it takes on my mom is heartbreaking. My mom has always been our rock, holding our family together through every challenge, but this has pushed us to our limits—emotionally and financially. For over two years, my mom has been caring for my dad at home, doing everything she can to keep him safe and comfortable. Through it all, our faith has been a constant source of strength and hope, helping us face each day with courage. We are doing everything we can, but the costs keep piling up, and it feels like we’re barely keeping our heads above water.

One of the most important parts of my dad’s treatment is adult day care. It gives him a sense of routine, keeps him engaged with activities, and allows him to socialize safely with others who understand what he’s going through. For my mom and me, it’s a lifeline—it gives us a chance to rest, recharge, and handle other responsibilities that pile up when you’re caring for someone 24/7. But the reality is, caring for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia is exhausting—there’s no shift change, no back-up, no true break. We’re managing medications, appointments, and staying awake to make sure my dad is safe. The money we raise will go directly toward increasing his access to this care, as well as covering medical bills, living expenses, and other support services that have become overwhelming. The need for care is ongoing, and we don’t have a true target to reach—this support will help us for as long as we can keep dad at home, until the day comes when he needs a facility.

It’s killing me that I even have to think about asking for help, but I can’t watch my mom struggle any longer. She’s done everything for us, and I need to do whatever I can to relieve some of her stress. Thank you for sharing or donating. Thank you for reading and caring about our family. We are grateful for every prayer and every act of kindness. Your support would mean the world to us and would help us provide the care my dad needs while easing the constant pressure on my mom, Q, and me.
