My name is HulkyDad, and three weeks ago, two words changed everything: testicular cancer.

I'm a father of seven. Seven kids who call me Dad. Seven reasons I have never once stopped working until now.

One of my children came into this world fighting. He was born with holes in his heart, spent 60 days in the NICU before we ever got to bring him home, and was later diagnosed with autism. Sixty days of sitting by an incubator, praying, bargaining, just begging God to let us keep him. We did. He is still the toughest person I have ever known. And right now, his dad needs to be tough too.

Before the cancer diagnosis, I was already fighting through something most people wouldn't tolerate for a day. An enlarged vein has been causing pain so severe it has taken me off my feet for six weeks. Some mornings, getting out of bed feels like a victory. Most mornings, it doesn't feel like one at all.

The doctors say it will be at least another three weeks before I can return to work. Three more weeks of watching my family stretch every dollar. Three more weeks of my kids seeing their father, who has always shown up, struggling to stand up.

I am not asking for this to be easy. I am just asking for a little help to make it possible.

On April 7th, I went in for surgery to have my right testicle removed. After that, I have a CT scan scheduled for April 17th to see if the cancer has spread. The waiting and worry have been overwhelming, and it’s hard not to think about what comes next for me and my family.

With such a large family, every day brings new challenges, and being unable to work has made it difficult to keep up with our living expenses. We’re doing our best to stay positive and support each other, but the financial strain is growing.
