Hello,

My name is Stacy Wixson, most of you might know me as Stacy Forshaw. I have lived in Sequim, WA for 45 years and have been very blessed to have the opportunity to serve the people I share this community with working as a nurse.

As many of you know, parts of the Los Angeles area have been utterly destroyed, including the Pacific Palisades. My brother, Stuart Gruca, a graduate of Sequim High School, class of 1983, lived there.

The photo attached is one he took seconds prior to evacuating his home. He has lost absolutely everything with the exception of the clothes on his back. Sadly, his son recently moved into his own apartment, and he too has lost everything in the fires.

As you can imagine, it is difficult finding shelter with over 250,000 people displaced at the moment. Their once content daily life has turned into a scramble for clean underwear, a place to sleep at night, and food to eat. Unfortunately, they have learned that their rental insurance was dropped in 2019 and are being told by the insurance company there is no assistance available to them.

It is unclear at this time if my brother plans to stay in California and attempt to rebuild or move to beautiful Sequim and try to start a new life. The same goes for his son. At this point, they are in too much shock to think of plans for the future. Their future consists of finding a place to lay their heads at night.

It is with a very heavy heart I humbly ask for help in their time of need. If you can spare anything at all that would allow my family to have peace of mind, if only for these immediate moments, I would be eternally grateful, as would they.

The funds raised will go to assisting my family with food, lodging and clothes for the immediate future.

Please let's band together and show that the citizens of our amazing community are willing, able, and ready to share their love.
