Support for my family affected by Helene

"Many folks lost EVERYTHING. Kids, parents, pets, cars, homes, neighbors, etc. GONE. Life cannot be replaced. In the end. Things don’t matter. Life matters." This was what my son posted on FB early this morning when he couldn't sleep. My son and his family have been displaced due to Helene. They moved into their new home in Augusta in August. We have helped keep them safe while they are without power, but there are so many things they are dealing with on top of Helene. It is day 8 without power and it has been a tough week. Lindsey has not been able to work, the kids (and pets) are stressed. All of their food is gone. FEMA denied their application for assistance. Insurance deductible is higher than the cost to replace spoilages and minor damage to the house. Several hundred dollars on food, gas, shelter and water for the family has been spent since the hurricane. More on activities for the kids to soften the blow on them. Their due date (at the moment) to get power back is 10/10/2024. I know there are people who have lost everything and are in bad shape. I hope they find the help they need from friends and family. This is my family. I want to help them. I want to help take some of the stress away. I want them to know that while they struggle, they have friends and family that want to help them through this rough spot. If you know Zach, you know that he has quite literally taken the clothes off of his back to help people in need. He has gone into a store and come out with essentials for the man and dog on the side of the road. I want to show him that what goes around, comes around. They are deserving of our compassion, empathy, love and help. These funds will help with what they have had to spend on food, travel and expenses since they have been without power and to help replenish the food lost and the cleanup/repair of the home.
