I never expected that the dog who helped me through one of the hardest times in my life would one day need my help just to stay alive.

After my father passed away, I adopted a nine-year-old dog who had also lost the person she loved most. In a strange way, we found each other at exactly the right moment. We were both grieving, both trying to make sense of a quieter, emptier world. She became my comfort, my routine, and my reminder that even after loss, there can still be connection and love.

She isn’t just a pet. She’s family. She’s the one who sat beside me on the worst days, who made sure I got out of bed, who gave me something to care for when everything else felt overwhelming.

Now she’s facing something neither of us is ready for: cancer.

The diagnosis has been devastating. Without treatment, her time is limited. With treatment, there’s a chance — not just for more time, but for good, happy, tail-wagging time. The kind where she still gets to enjoy walks, sunshine, treats, and being by my side.

The cost of her care is more than I can manage on my own. Between diagnostics, treatment, and ongoing care, the expenses are overwhelming. I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t do this alone.
