On March 31, 2026, my daughter was shot in the face and is still in the hospital, facing a long and difficult recovery. She currently has an ANC CSF leak and is experiencing right side weakness, which has made her journey even more challenging. As her medical proxy, I have been by her side in Wichita, far from our home and my job in Oklahoma. This has made it impossible for me to work, and I am doing everything I can to support her and keep her spirits up.

We have three other children at home with family, and my daughter’s 2-year-old son is staying close so he can bring her comfort during these tough days. We are waiting for a bed in Kansas City or Denver, which will mean even more travel and lodging expenses after three weeks in the hospital already. The accident has changed our lives, and my daughter has a long road ahead as she works to regain her strength and independence.
