I am a single mom and a registered nurse, and I am reaching out for help as my family faces an incredibly difficult time. In August 2025, my daughter was diagnosed with SMA syndrome and has been living with a feeding tube ever since. During her hospitalization, she bravely disclosed to nurses that she had been sexually assaulted by someone we trusted when she was younger. This revelation led to a long and painful process with forensic investigators, but because there was no physical evidence, he pleaded the fifth and refused to speak to the police. Despite this, every professional who interviewed my daughter—including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, DCS, counselors, police investigators, and a forensic psychologist—believes she is telling the truth. She has since been diagnosed with PTSD from the assault. Her medical condition, SMA syndrome, is often caused by trauma, and not eating enough can lead to this diagnosis. Now, she lives with a feeding tube and requires ongoing medical care. Unfortunately, we are having issues with insurance, which has resulted in significant medical bills. As a single mom, I am struggling to keep up with these expenses while also trying to provide for my two other children. I am a registered nurse and pick up as many shifts as possible, but I was diagnosed with MCAS two years ago, which takes a heavy toll on my health. Any support will help us cover my daughter's medical care, pay down bills, and afford the legal help we need to keep my daughter safe. My children and I are so very grateful for any help and appreciate any donations or encouragement.
