On Dec 23rd, 2025, my dad "David Minjarez" and I went out for a ride together. In a split second, a truck in front of him slammed on its brakes, and despite his best efforts to swerve, my dad clipped the back of the vehicle going about 40 mph. The impact briefly sent him airborne.

I was riding behind him and witnessed everything. I quickly got off my bike, rushed to his side, pulled his bike off of him, and the injury was catastrophic, his leg from the knee down was shattered with the bone completely exposed. I had to physically hold his leg together until paramedics arrived.

He was then rushed to BAMC Trauma Center at Fort Sam Houston, where surgeons were able to stabilize and rebuild his leg using a complex system of metal rods, bolts, and screws. While the surgery was a success, we are now at high stakes while monitoring for infection as the risk of him losing his leg is still very real.

We need help because my dad has always been the pillar of our family and is the main provider for our household, supporting not only me and my mom but also my grandparents. With him bedridden, our family has lost its primary source of income, and at the same time, medical bills are starting to pile up.
