Our family is going through one of the most difficult times we have ever faced, and we are humbly asking for help and prayers. On January 27, my dad was suddenly hospitalized after doctors discovered a tumor growing in his brain. The situation became very serious very quickly, and he had to be emergency air-medically transported to Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette where he underwent emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor. During surgery, doctors discovered that the tumor was melanoma that had spread to his brain, confirming a diagnosis of stage 4 melanoma cancer.
After surgery, my dad spent time in the ICU recovering before he was finally stable enough to come home. While we are incredibly thankful that he made it through the surgery, our family is now facing many new challenges. Because of his condition and the treatments ahead, my dad is currently unable to work. He is now undergoing regular scans and cancer treatments, along with many doctor visits as he continues this difficult battle.
This has all been extremely hard on him, both physically and emotionally. Because of this, my mom has had to take on the role of full-time caregiver. She spends her days making sure he gets to his appointments, caring for him at home, and traveling out of town for the specialized care he needs. Unfortunately, this has made it very difficult for her to keep up with work, and the financial pressure from medical costs, travel expenses, and everyday bills has quickly become overwhelming for our family.
My dad means the world to us. He is a loving husband, father, and grandfather who has always been there for the people he loves. Seeing someone so strong go through something like this has been heartbreaking, but we are holding on to faith, hope, and the support of those around us.
We created this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly challenging time so my mom can focus on caring for my dad and being by his side through his treatments. Donations will go toward medical expenses, travel costs for appointments and treatments, and helping keep our family stable while we navigate this journey.
