(Written by Ron Allen) As many of you know, my dad, David Allen Sr., was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2024. The last few months, in particular, have been difficult to say the least. My dad has been in and out of the hospital since November, and about 4 weeks ago, he was admitted to hospice care. He was able to go home with my mom and brother in early January, but his condition has progressed to Stage 7. My mom, Carolyn, has faithfully cared for him every step of the way.
After several recent falls, including one on January 22, our family does not feel it is safe for Dad to return home. We are now urgently seeking a residential care facility that can meet his needs. These facilities can cost $8,000 or more per month, though one has offered a temporary discounted rate of $5,000 per month for the first two months.
My parents do not have savings to cover this level of care.
While we are applying for Emergency Medi-Cal and trust God’s timing in that process, there are immediate expenses we are facing over the next couple of months. Our family is committed to caring for my dad with dignity, love, and faith, just as he and my parents have lived their lives doing what they could to serve others.
I am reaching out for help to support my Mom and Dad during the next couple of months. Any donation, prayer, or sharing of this page would mean so much to all of us. Thank you for walking with us and keeping our family in your prayers.
