In March 2026, my mom, Cindy Ming, went to the ER for an extreme headache that wouldn’t go away. After 5-6 weeks of uncertainty and worry, doctors diagnosed her with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. She was admitted to the hospital with blood loss and spent almost the entire month of May there, before coming home for hospice care. Just days later, she passed away. The speed and severity of her illness has left our family in shock and deep grief.

Now, my dad is facing not only the loss of his partner, but also the financial challenges that come with losing a second income. The funeral and medical bills are adding up quickly, and everyday living costs are becoming harder to manage. My dad has always been there for our family, and it’s difficult to see him struggle with so much at once.
