In early April 2026, my dad, Haggai Sikalumbi, received a devastating diagnosis: gastric carcinoma (stomach cancer). What began as a shock has quickly become a race against time. Recent tests indicate that the cancer is aggressive, with possible spread to other parts of his body. His oncology team has urgently recommended surgery, followed by intensive treatment.

Our family’s world has been turned upside down.

My dad is one of the hardest-working and most generous people I know. He has spent his life providing for our family and showing up for others in our community and church—often putting others before himself. Now, he is facing the biggest fight of his life.

As he prepares for surgery and treatment, he is unable to work. My mother will be his full-time caregiver, which means she is also unable to work. In just a few weeks, we have already incurred nearly $10,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses—even with insurance—and the costs are rising rapidly.

We are seeking to raise $100,000 to cover:

• Life-saving surgery and hospital costs

• Ongoing cancer treatment (chemotherapy, medications, follow-up care)

• Travel and recovery-related expenses

• Basic household needs during this period of lost income

This is not a number we arrived at lightly—it reflects the reality of the care he urgently needs and the financial gap our family is facing.
